Green energy saves the world from climate change

The UK hosted the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October — 13 November 2021. The COP26 summit brought countries together to accelerate actions against climate change. But world leaders failed to honor the climate pledge. The UN climate summit has been slammed as a failure after India and China weakened language on phasing out fossil fuels and historical polluters refused to accept liability for damage caused by extreme weather. Conclusions? It’s time to take matters into your own hands because privileged, rich, and powerful people have failed to deal with the most threatening issue for the world. During the climate crisis, startups are lending a helping hand.

As you can see, solar and blockchain technologies have advanced in parallel throughout the last decade. These technologies’ combined potential is now being realized. We are working on a project that will surely appear in the next edition of the Climate Tech 1000 list. With a global vision behind the project and promising results. Meet EAAS — a company that will certify the energy as green. EAAS stands for “Energy As A Service”. In a capsule explanation, it is a digital token of green energy created by your source or proven by a trustee, to be used, stored, or swapped on energy exchange.

How does it work? Let’s start with an example. First, you want to sell your energy, so let’s say you have solar panels on your roof, you have of course a battery to keep the energy and you have some surplus energy that you’d like to sell for example. It could be private as well as a public person. You only need to order an EAAS charger and you can offer the possibility to charge at your place.

As a client, you just need to download the application, which will be available on all major platforms and on the web. In your application, you have your total balance in EAAS in the token, meaning that the energy you will buy is guaranteed to be green and sustainable, ethically-sourced, transparent, and traceable of course. You are provided with a set of options, first, you could see the charger that is nearby. You can always see where they get energy from. In this case, it’s solar energy and it’s certified green by EAAS. You can very well book it, for say 15 minutes, then you have time to go to your charger and you’ll be sure that you have your spot available. When you arrive at your charger, you scan the QR code on your charger. That could be limited by the person who sells the energy, let’s say they want to keep little of the energy they produce for themselves, so they set a limit on how much energy they can give and also on a time basis.

You choose how much you want to buy energy, how much you want to charge, and you create a smart contract. Then, the charger is always listening to the smart contract, as soon as it sees that there’s a new contract created, it’ll listen for the contract. The buyer will deposit the money on the escrow account, so the money cannot be touched. Just it can only be withdrawn if the charge is guaranteed when it happened. When the money has been deposited, the device asks to plug in — directly to a car or even the phone. Then the device is charging your car, as soon as the charge is done, the process is reversed. Only the person who sells the energy can say that the transaction occurred, and they can withdraw the money. Then there’s trust between all parties.

This device can be installed everywhere — on parking spaces and private properties. Imagine you’re going to work during the day — then you can effectively rent your driveway, rent your charger, and make money out of this. The most beautiful thing is that it extends the network of chargers. Meaning that you’re not anymore stuck with the big agglomerations, big cities, highways, and main roads. Now you can be lost in the middle of somewhere and you can have a place to charge. It’s an easier future and it’s especially always the energy is certified green and sustainable.
